I am looking for a repair schematic for the soft top repair for the hydraulic cylinders. I need to replace the left side cylinder that lifts the soft top. It is the smaller one inside the lift mechanism. Any ideas of an easier way to replace?

If I were attempting this repair, I would get the best repair info possible. I would see what Mercedes has available, and if they don't have something I would look at a Bentley manual: http://bit.ly/Bentley_Repair_Manuals

I am replying to benzseal. 2 summers ago bought 95 sl roadster. Soon noticed that top had been rigged to open n close. Found a mechanic and had fixed and I searched for a reptualble one and didn't wnt to b ripped off a. because I had a mercedes. b. because i was a lady.. Well they charged almost 800 and said fixed and this was with a discount. Ok exactly 1 yr to date and my top is messing up again and they say now it's the back and not the top portion of the hydraulic. I got so pissed, they wnted to charge me another 800 so I grabbed my crap and its a hour away and Said NO. Was I wrong ?
