Continental Imports Of Gainesville
My husband took his older Altima here for a diagnostic check. First of all the place had the car 2 days and couldn't figure out the rattling sound. Then decided to replace parts (with out calling or verifying with us). My husband called at the end of the 2nd. day since we had heard nothing, and they said they were charging us for a diagnostic and the part they re-placed. Even if we got the part taken out, they would charge us PLUS they still charged us for the diagnostic!! When you call there all you talk to is the lady at the front desk...never talked to a mechanic or someone who knew what they were talking about. She acted like she was doing us a favor by "charging less than she should" This place is a total rip off... NEVER take your car here. Can't believe they have been in business this long.

The rattling sound was easy, the car had a dead misfire.
This car, which we normally don't work on, was refered by another shop because we have extensive diagnostic capabilities. A diagnostic charge was discussed and agreed upon. After numerous tests including scope checking of secondary ignition and compression testing, the misfire was confirmed to a particular cylinder but was shown not to be electrical. The injector firing was confirmed with a current ramping test. The results pointed to an injector problem. We pulled the injector rail and did an off the car flow test and found a bad injector.
At that point we were well beyond the diagnostic time anticipated, but we had a used injector and we installed it instead of just putting the rail back on unrepaired. We charged $50 for the used injector for a grand total of $280. The approved diagnostic charges were $200. The repair range for the injector without engine tests and flow tests goes for $198 - $296 by Repair Pal esitmate. Some people have no idea what they got, but it proves the old addage, "no good turn goes unpunished"
