Question: computer failed my smog

I took my passat to midas, after all emissions passed, I was failed due to my computer not talking??? What does that mean? It passed smog in september of 09, 3 months later it failed. Check engine light is not on and there is no problems with my car.

    go to a different shop and get a different Smog Check done. if it still has a problem then check the fuse that powers up the OBD-II connector, which, believe it or not is the Cig light fuse. Does your Cig lighter work?

    Thank you dandd! I figured it out upon inspection of fuses, I saw one was missing! Guess what it was the fuse that turns on the check engine light! The private seller pulled it so he could sell his car and act like nothing was wrong!
