Question: Clutch Master & Slave Needs to be replaced @ 65k?

I drove through a very heavy puddle a few days ago and immediately after, my clutch had no resistance and I was unable to get into gear. I had to have the car towed to a hyundai dealership close to me.

They told me that both the clutch master and slave cylinder need to be replaced and gave me an estimate of $700!!??

Does this seem odd to anyone? The clutch was working just fine and I didn't notice any issue with it previously...how can a puddle of water cause so much damage?

    water and brake flid does not mix. replace it and move on.

    Actualy same problem happened with me kind of....it's not really the puddle that did the damage. It was probably like the ball baring part fell apart over time and that made it completly go. Or something along those lines. I just ordered a clutch system for around 200 dolars. that included the barring, the clutch pad,( I think the slave and the fork. ) Most of the time you can't ask a dealer for a pricing cause they're going to be the highest for the most part, they can only buy from one distributer. I'm gessing this is late but for futer trouble just remember to shop around at different auto part stores and find a michanic that will allow you to bring in your own parts. chances are you'll save money.
