clutch on 1991 Nissan Sentra

my 91 nissan has all its gear on the manual transmission but fifth gear. when i try to put it in to gear it just makes a grinding noise. some people saied it is the clutch fork. and some say its the clutch. what could it be?

if it is while you are moving, then it is a bad syncro assembly. that requires removal and disassembly for the repair. if it is when you are standing still, then it may be linkage or a bad pressure plate. roy
