When I roll up my driver side rear window I hear a clicking/clunking sound about halfway up and then it returns to closing normally.I have been told I may need a window regulator replacement but could it be a a simpler less expensive repair.

Pull the door panel and look to see what's happening while the noise is being made.

Thank you for your very common sense reply. My present Saab mechanic tells me with his many years of experience it will need a window regulator replacement simply by the sound however with your reply I will ask him to first pull the door panel as you recommend as he is presently trying to source out this difficult used part to find and then replace it.
