2000 chevy mailbu-This noise is a clicking noise heard while driving, somewhat slows when car is idleing. I opened the hood and it seems to come from whatever the belt is turning. I am taking it to the mechanic, he seems to think it may be "bearings" and that they can "freeze up" How much will this cost and is this the problem?

There many different "bearings" that the belt is turning. The mechanic should be able to tell you exactly which component is causing the noise. Once you know exactly what needs to be replaced check the estimator at www.repairpal.com for the cost of the necessary repair.
