Chrysler 300 Recalls
The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
When the vehicle transmission is not in the park position and the vehicle door is open, there may not be adequate warning from the vehicle, resulting in an occupant feeling safe to exit the vehicle while not shifted into the park position. This could result in the vehicle rolling away unexpectedly, increasing risk of injury.
The software for the radio is vulnerable to third party outside access. An unknown computer user could possibly exploit the vehicle software and remotely modify certain vehicle systems, resulting in the risk of an accident.
When deployed in a crash, the driver's front air bag inflator can rupture. As a result, metal fragments from the inflator can strike occupants.
The driver's front airbag inflator may rupture upon deployment. Vehicle occupants could be struck by metal fragments resulting in personal injury.
The alternator can fail, causing loss of electrical power and possible engine stalling.
The ignition key may stick and move between positions in the ignition key cylinder. This can cause the vehicle to shut off and various electrical accessories to stop operating inadvertently.
Certain vehicles are being recalled because the driver and/or passenger airbag inflator may rupture upon deployment. Vehicle occupants could be struck by metal fragments resulting in personal injury.
All wheel drive vehicles equipped with a ZF transmission may experience premature transmission failure.
Certain 2011-2012 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Challenger & Charger models are being recalled because the airbag system my not deploy as expected in the event of a crash.
