Instrument cluster periodically failed. No speedo, gas gauge, tach, temp. gauge,etc.(had this same problem with 1995, and 1998 models of chrysler/dodge minivans, the 1999 would 'correct' if I hit the dash board just right, the others would not-I would just drive them without the gauges and eventually they would come back on). U.S. resident purchased Canadian vehicle with speedometer cluster readout in kilometers. Desired display in miles. Replaced Canadian cluster with U.S. cluster from wrecked vehicle. Odometer and speedometer incorrect. Kilometers still displayed. Mechanic replaced transmission input and output speed sensors. No effect on problem. Defective speed sensors on the transmission can cause problems with the cruise control and speedometer operation, as well as erratic shifting. The connectors on the sensors can corrode and/or the connector terminals can spread (poor connection), which will create similar symptoms. Any of these problems can cause Check Engine Light illumination.
