Chrysler 300: 12V004000
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
On certain SRT8 models, the Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) may be calibrated to warn the driver of a low tire when the pressure reaches 22psi instead of the required 24psi.
What Should You Do?
Chrysler will notify owners of affected vehicles during February 2012. There are no symptoms related to this recall. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Summary:
The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) does not warn the driver when a tire is 25% below the recommend pressure. The recalled vehicles notify the customers when the tire pressure reaches 22psi rather than the required 24psi. Underinflated tires can result in overheating of the tire, which could lead to a blowout and possible crash. Dealers will reprogram the TPMS to correct this concern. The Chrysler recall number is L43.
