The Rear Brakes May Lock Under Certain Braking Conditions

A problem with the software for the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) computer may cause the rear brakes to lock up under certain braking conditions. This could cause a loss of control and possibly a crash without warning.


We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; the rear brakes may lock up. Please contact your Chrysler dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.


A problem with the software for the ABS control module may cause the rear brakes to lock up under certain braking conditions. Dealers will reprogram the ABS electronic control unit. The recall began February 19, 2007. The Chrysler recall number is F50.

Summary: ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE MAY CAUSE THE REAR BRAKES TO LOCK UP DURING CERTAIN BRAKING CONDITIONS.

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ABS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 19, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
