Chevrolet recalls

For Models: Buick LaCrosse, Buick Regal, Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain

Body, Interior & Misc., July 23, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The driver's and/or passenger's seat may suddenly drop to its lowest position because a bolt securing the height adjuster can fall out. This unexpected movement of the driver's seat could cause a distraction, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the height adjuster bolts in both front seats to correct this concern.

For Models: Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Oldsmobile Alero, Oldsmobile Intrigue, Pontiac Grand Am, Pontiac Grand Prix

Body, Interior & Misc., July 3, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position without warning, turning off the engine. This defect can also affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Dealers will provide two replacement key rings and key cover on all ignition keys to correct this concern.

For Models: Buick Encore, Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Sonic

Electrical & Lights, July 2, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

In cold temperatures, the insulation on the engine block heater cord can become damaged, allowing the wires to be exposed. Exposed wires increase the risk of electrical shock and personal injury if the cord is handled while it is plugged in. Dealers will replace the block heater cord to correct this concern. The new cord is rated for temperatures of -40C.

For Models: Chevrolet Cruze

Body, Interior & Misc., June 26, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The driver's front airbag inflator may have been manufactured with an incorrect part. If a crash occurs requiring deployment of the driver's airbag, the inflator may rupture and the airbag may not inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike and potentially seriously injure the vehicle occupants. Additionally, if the airbag does not inflate, the driver is at an increased risk of injury. Dealers will replace the driver side airbag to correct this concern.

For Models: Buick LaCrosse, Buick Lucerne, Cadillac DTS, Cadillac DeVille, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Body, Interior & Misc., June 23, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position without warning, turning off the engine. This defect can also affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Dealers will install two 13mm key rings and key insert into the vehicle's ignition keys to correct this concern.

For Models: Chevrolet Camaro

Body, Interior & Misc., June 20, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The driver may accidentally hit the ignition key with their knee, moving the key out of the run position, turning off the engine. If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, loss of power steering, and power braking, could increase the risk of a vehicle crash. Note: Until the recall has been performed, drivers should adjust their seat and steering column to allow clearance between their knee and the ignition key. Dealers will remove the key blade from the original flip key/RKE transmitter assembly, and provide two new keys and two key rings per key.

For Models: Chevrolet Corvette

Body, Interior & Misc., June 6, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) that controls airbag deployment may experience an internal short circuit. This would result in deactivation of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners. If the airbags do not deploy as expected in the event of a crash, the risk of personal injury is increased. Dealers will replace the SDM on affected vehicles to correct this concern.

For Models: Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook

Body, Interior & Misc., May 20, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

In the affected vehicles, there is a flexible steel steel cable that connects the seatbelt buckle to the front seat frame. Over time the cable may fatigue and separate. If the steel cable separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected seatbelt buckles (lap pretensioners) to correct this concern.

For Models: Chevrolet Malibu

Brakes, May 14, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Power assist to the braking system may be lost due to a problem with the vacuum assist, disabling the hydraulic boost assist. If this were to occur increased brake pedal effort would be required to slow and stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will update the software in the electronic brake control module to correct this concern. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 2.5L engine with the auto stop/start option.

For Models: Chevrolet Corvette

Electrical & Lights, May 14, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The underhood bussed electrical center (fuse box) can expand causing the low beam relay to flex. Over time this can cause the relay to fail, resulting in loss of low beam headlight operation. Loss of headlight operation can affect the drivers ability see and be seen, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the underhood bussed electrical housing unit to correct this concern. 2008-2013 Chevrolet Corvettes will be covered under customer satisfaction program number 14203 for the same issue.
