Chevrolet recalls

For Models: Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender, Saab 9-7x

Body, Interior & Misc., August 15, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Vehicles first sold, or currently registered, in certain states where salt is used to de-ice the roads are being recalled because fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing an odor, smoke, or a fire. As of this time, the remedy plan is still being finalized and a notification schedule has not been determined. The GM recall number is 12180.

For Models: Chevrolet Express 1500, Chevrolet Express 2500, Chevrolet Express 3500, GMC Savana 1500, GMC Savana 2500, GMC Savana 3500

Exhaust & Emissions, August 7, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

On vehicles equipped with a left side cargo door, water and road contaminants may become trapped in the protective conduit that covers the fuel filler pipe, which can cause the pipe to corrode. Significant corrosion may allow fuel to leak during refueling, and in the presence of an ignition source, this could cause a fire. Dealers will install a new fuel filler neck to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12166.

For Models: Chevrolet Impala

Suspension & Steering, August 3, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

On vehicles equipped with the "police" option package, one or both of the front lower control arms may fracture. A broken control arm can result in the loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace both front lower control arms to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12104.

For Models: Chevrolet Cruze

Engine, June 21, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Attachment welds for the fuel tank strap secondary brackets may have been omitted during vehicle assembly. In the event of a crash, the fuel tank could come loose, possibly allowing fuel to leak and increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the vehicle for missing welds. If the vehicle is missing welds, dealers will secure the bracket attachments with fasteners. The General Motors recall number is 12133.

For Models: Chevrolet Cruze

Engine, June 21, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Spilled or dripping oil (such as after an oil change) may collect in the engine shield (bellypan) near hot engine or exhaust system surfaces. As a result, the oil and the engine shield may ignite and burn, causing an engine compartment fire. Dealers will modify the engine shield to prevent fluid from contacting the shield. Also, on vehicles with a manual transmission, protective tape will be applied to the electronic power steering wire harness. The General Motors recall number is 12081.

For Models: Chevrolet Malibu

Body, Interior & Misc., May 17, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

After an event of hard braking, the airbag control module (sensing and diagnostic module, or SDM) may reset itself. If this occurs during an aggressive turning maneuver, and if a potential vehicle rollover is sensed, the roof rail airbag may inadvertently deploy. Additionally, the airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners may not deploy during a severe crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will reprogram the SDM to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12102.

For Models: Chevrolet Express 1500, Ford Transit Connect, GMC Savana 1500

Body, Interior & Misc., April 13, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Certain vehicles, fitted with a specific Braun wheelchair lift, has a roll stop latch on the outer barrier of the wheelchair lift that may become bent or misaligned over time and with frequent use. Main Mobility is working with Braun to notify owners and Braun dealers will repair the lift as necessary to correct this concern. This recall only pertains to vehicles altered by Main Mobility. General Motors and Ford are NOT involved in this recall.

For Models: Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia

Body, Interior & Misc., April 5, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Snow or ice buildup on the windshield or on the wiper restricts the movement of the wiper arm. The wiper arm may loosen and cause the wiper to become inoperative. If this occurs, driver visibility could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will tighten the wiper arm nuts to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12036.

For Models: Chevrolet Express 1500, Chevrolet Express 2500, Chevrolet Express 3500, Chevrolet Suburban 1500, Chevrolet Suburban 2500, GMC Savana 1500, GMC Savana 2500, GMC Savana 3500, GMC Yukon XL 1500, GMC Yukon XL 2500

Suspension & Steering, March 22, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The steering gear pitman shaft may not have been adequately hardened and could break. If this occurs, a loss of steering ability will result, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the steering gear and replace the steering gear pitman shaft if necessary to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12005.

For Models: Chevrolet Sonic

Brakes, December 22, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Some vehicles may be missing a front inner or outer brake pad. A missing pad could result in reduced brake system performance, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the front brakes for missing pads. If a brake pad is missing, dealers will install new brake pads, a new brake caliper, and a new rotor. The General Motors recall number is 11354.
