The steering may develop a clunk type noise from the upper intermediate steering shaft. Our technicians tell us that you should check with your local GM dealer to find out what the latest repair is for this condition.
The idler arm or pitman arm may wear causing looseness in the steering. When this occurs the front suspension will not be able to be aligned correctly.

the car will crank but wont start
I'm currently getting low oil pressure and "check gauge" light when idling. What do i need to check oil pressure. I'm assuming if oil pressure is fine then i need to replace the sending unit. Has anyone had this problem?

The 2008 ss impala is a effing money pit. I bought mine brand new off of the lift outside of the dealership. The intermittent slipping is a sure sign that your tranny is about to go.
