Gear Shift Indicator May Be Incorrect

Drive Train, May 5, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The shift linkage may not be properly installed. As a result, the shift indicator may not correctly reflect the position of the transmission gear. This could allow the driver to remove the ignition key when the transmission is not in "Park." The vehicle may not start and/or could roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the transmission shift linkage for correct installation and adjust it as necessary. No schedule for owner notification is available at this time. The General Motors recall number is 11142.
