Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 05V005000

GM Recalls 2000 1500 and 2500 Series Trucks Due to Hydraulic Steering Pump Shaft Fracture

Drive Train, February 14, 2005

RepairPal Expert Overview

Summary:

The hydraulic pump that controls power steering and in some cases hydro-boost power brakes may experience a fracture of its driveshaft. If this shaft breaks, power steering assist will cease immediately and hydro-boost brake power will also cease following depletion of stored reserve pressure. An increase in steering and brake effort may cause an accident. Dealers will replace the hydraulic pump.
