Chevy is part of GM, the largest automaker in the U.S. Chevrolet was started by Louis Chevrolet and General Motors founder, William C. Durant, in 1911. Durant used Chevrolet to acquire a controlling stake and regain his presidency in General Motors in 1918. He was ousted again in 1919 from GM. Louis Chevrolet, the co-founder of Chevrolet Motor Company, was a Swiss race car driver and automotive engineer. The "bowtie" Chevrolet logo was introduced in 1913, but no one knows exactly where it came from. It could be a nod to the Swiss flag for Louis Chevrolet, the wallpaper of a French hotel room Durant once saw, or based on the logo of the "Coalettes" coal company.
Chevy's most reported problem on RepairPal is associated with transmissions on some Chevy Impala models.
