Driver's Air Bag May Not Deploy Properly
On 130 vehicles, a problem with the driver's air bag may cause it to not deploy properly if needed in a crash. Also, the inflator could rupture.
Please contact your GM dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
On 130 vehicles, the driver's air bag may not deploy properly if needed in a crash. Also, the inflator could rupture. This could increase the risk of injury to the driver and other passengers if pieces of the inflator strike them. Dealers will inspect and install a new driver's air bag if needed. The recall began March 11, 2003. The GM recall number is 03008.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE
ON CERTAIN MINI VANS, PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG THAT MAY NOT DEPLOY AS DESIGNED. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG INFLATOR COULD RUPTURE.
THIS COULD RESULT IN REDUCED CAPABILITY OF THE AIR BAG TO PROTECT THE DRIVER. ALSO IF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR RUPTURED, PIECES OF THE INFLATOR COULD STRIKE AND INJURE THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT, AND IF NECESSARY, INSTALL A NEW DRIVER'S AIR BAG. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON MARCH 11, 2003.
