General Motors is recalling 2001 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo models because the air bag sensing and diagnostic modules (SDM) may experience a memory error, which could prevent the air bags from deploying in an accident. Dealers will replace the sensing and diagnostic module.

SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH DROPS OF ENGINE OIL MAY BE DEPOSITED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD THROUGH HARD BRAKING.
