| Brakes |
Brake fluid can become dirty and may cause problems in the brake system; it should be flushed every 60,000 miles.

| Drive Train |
You may be able to prevent transmission problems by servicing the transmission and inspecting the fluid every 30,000 miles. If the fluid is dark or burned then the transmission system should be completely flushed. |
| Engine |
All Engines
- The fuel pump may fail causing engine to stall and not restart.
- The water pump may prematurely fail causing loss of engine coolant and engine overheating.
- The spark plugs should be replaced every 100,000 miles. Our technicians recommend replacing the spark plug wires also at this time.
3.4L V6
3.8L V6
- The Serpentine belt tensioner pulley may wear out. Our technicians tell us that in order to get a new pulley from General Motors you must purchase a complete belt tensioner.
- The intake manifold gaskets can develop external engine oil leaks. The manifold gasket will need to be replaced to correct this issue.
- The mass air flow or crankshaft position sensor may fail causing the engine to intermittently stall.
3.8L V6 supercharged only The supercharger may develop a noise in the front section of the supercharger assembly. The is due to a worn coupler. Our technicians tell us that a remanufactured coupler section is available from aftermarket suppliers. |
| Exhaust & Emissions |
A loose or worn gas cap may cause Check Engine (SES) light to illuminate.
3.8L V6 non-supercharged only The EGR tube may develop an engine vacuum leak causing the Check Engine (SES) light to illuminate. |
| Electrical & Lights |
The speedometer or other instrument panel gauge may begin to work erratically at times. Our technicians tell us that the instrument cluster must be sent to a repair facility to correct this fault. The warranty has been extended on some of these units to 7 years or 70,000 miles. |
| Miscellaneous |
No common problems reported. |
| Suspension & Steering |
- The high pressure power steering hose will commonly leak fluid; it should be replaced.
- The steering may develop a clunk type noise from the upper intermediate steering shaft. Our technicians tell us that you should check with your local GM dealer to find out what the latest repair is for this condition.
