check light came home-told dirt in the emissions pipe? what does that mean, something with the gas cap problem

    find a new shop. you need someone who knows what they are doing and do the job correctly.

    The "check engine light" can be triggered for literally hundreds of reasons (emissions problems are about 30-50 of them) and a loose gas cap is only one of them. The codes need to be read while the light is on. And these codes just give a good place to start diagnostics.
