The check engine soon light came on and will not go back off. When it came on, I checked a few things like the gas cap, added 10 litres of mid-grade fuel but light remained oon. I then checked the engine oil and it was just a little low so I put in approximately 3/4 of a pint of oil. I then had to drive back home (1 hour drive) and when I got there, I checked the engine oil again and there was still approximately 3/4 of a pint missing. Am I looking at seroius engine problems or could this be just a minor problem. I just bought this vehicle 4 months ago at a used car dealership. Thank You (Hope someone can help me with this) Michel

check engine light does not have anything to do with your oil level. it is an emissions issue. you need to have code pulled to lead you in the right direction for repairs. Roy
Service Engine soon light blinks/comes on intermittently. Steady most of the time but blinks briefly when accelerating. Engine seems to hesitate and idles hard at stops. Started after refueling
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS NOW. I NOTICE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. MAYBE IT IS MY IMAGINATION, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE MY AVERAGE MILES PER GALLON HAS GONE UP SINCE ...
Illumination of the Check Engine Light can be caused by a loose or worn gas cap.
