check engine light stays on on 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan

Is there something I can do myself to correct this? What do you estimate it should cost if I have to have it done?

Possibly, but the first thing to do is read the codes. You can buy a code reader or find a placed that will read out the codes for you. Once you have the codes, you can research them and see what causes them to be set.
