O2 sensor was replaced, Gas cap replaced, vacuum switch replaced. It is back at the shop again. I am really upset that the problem cannot be resolved. What could it be, and what would happen if I just ignore it the next time it comes back on?
One odd factor is that 3 of the four times it came on it was on the same highway at the same time of day ( 8:20-8:30 am), same day of the week, and the driving distance from my home ( about 8 miles ). Going 70 mph with cruise control on.

Please find another shop, a P0440 is an Evaporative System code for a large leak and has nothing to do with the oxygen sensors.

here is an article that I wrote about how to deal with a P0440 code. I do emissions diagnosis and repair work for a living, so I have to deal with these codes on a daily basis in California. If this happened in my area, the State Bureau of Auto Repair would force this shop to give back all the money for charging for a non-repair.

here are some shops: Go to shop that does State of Texas Emissions Inspections AND Repairs. Best of luck!
