My check engine light has been on for a couple of months now but car runs OK, however, lately I have noticed that the temperature guage goes up to about the half way point when I am sitting in traffic & not moving. What does this mean?

JourneymanThe check engine light is on for a reason you need to have checked. The temp half way sitting in traffic in texas , How hot is out there ? Do you have the air on too? This all has a factor in it. Have you checked your coolant level , I know it is warmer there than here in so. jeresy.
