Question: Check engine light is on and fumes are very strong .

My check engine light is staying on constantly. Fumes we smell all day but more in the early morning. Making us very sick.

    The check engine light is trying to tell you that there's a problem detected with engine and emission control system and trouble codes are stored in the engine controller. The fumes must be raw gasoline which would indicate a fuel leak. You need a mechanic with a scanner to read the trouble codes and find the fuel leak. The fuel leak especially is a safety issue.
