2003 Toyota Camry Q&A
2003 Toyota Camry Question: check engine light is on
In the past the check engine light would go on after getting gas. When I had a small shop mechanic he would just turn the light off and not charge me. Now I go to a toyota dealership for lof and they want $120 to diagnose why light is on. Any helpful advice would be appreciated. I'm a 64 year old female and I don't want to do repairs myself; my brother tells me he bought a checker for $40 and uses it himself. Thanks for any help. - Visitor
Make sure each time you get gas that you turn the gas cap so that it is tight ( you should hear it click several times. Toyota have some problems ( no more than any other car manufacturer) with the evap emission system. The purge control valve and charcoal canister fail but the system needs to be properly diagnosed it could be a s simple as a vacuum hose that has fallen off. - patrick mannion
