OWNER SAID VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND EXHAUST CAME APART. ALSO HE RAN CAR OUT OF GAS. NOW ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. VEHICLE CAN'T BE MOVED TO A PLACE TO GET A CODE. ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT PROBLEM IS? IF EXHAUST IS RECONNECTED WILL THAT SOLVE PROBLEM? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

It depends where the exhaust seperated. The engine needs back pressure which is provided by the catalitic converter in order to run right. This may cause it also not to start. Or maybe it seperated befroe an O2 sensor and is not getting the correct readings. Its also possible that the fuel pump failed do to no gasoline. The gas lubricates the fuel pump.
