1997 Lexus ES300 Q&A
1997 Lexus ES300 Question: Check Engine light flashing, engine misses
My Lexus es300, 130k, has been well maintained with all required maint up to date. When I was driving today the engine started missing and , check engine light started flashing. The car did not die and I was able to make it the 3 miles to my home. What could this be caused by? Thanks. - kaiz67
A misfire can be caused by a bad spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector, vacuum leak or mechanical damage to the engine. You shouldn't drive the vehicle if the check engine light is flashing, you can damage the catalytic converter, it's probably OK after 3 miles, but avoid any more driving and get it checked out. Here is some more info about the check engine light and the misfire codes: http://repairpal.com/check-engine-light http://repairpal.com/OBD-Code-P0300 - Bret Bodas
