My Check Engine Light was going on, too, even though I'd securely tighten the gas cap after fueling. Even after I had the gas cap replaced, it'd occasionally go on. I just live with it.
The first time the engine light came on 20011 it was the Gas Cap.
The second time it was 2013 when the gas cap had to be replaced again.
The third time the engine light came on and the dealer performed a diagnostic test that displayed 5 errors they reset the errors. The fourth time which was two days later the engine light re-appeared and the dealer diagnose this time as the the EGR value system. It was repaired.
The fifth time the engine light reappeared and it was one of the two fans in front of the engine and was taken care. Last week Oct. 15 the engine light came on again and it was the gas cap. Now it is on again and there seems to be a leak after a smoke test. The car is in the shop.
