Volkswagen Passat Check Engine Light Due to Faulty Torque Converter

A problem with the torque converter can cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate.

started with 2nd to 3rd gear and has become more common in 3 to 4 and 4 to 6 gear changes. -
check engine light on due to faulty torque converter -
TCC open and check engine light on. Dealer says only solution re and re TC and gaskets and such -
Felt like a hard miss at 30-40 mph; could have been engine or transmission. Had it hooked up to read codes...."TCC".. torque converter clutch..ouch..this is gonna be expensive, but check engine light never came on. -
