2005 Ford Freestar Q&A
2005 Ford Freestar Question: check engine light comes on????
Yes, take it to a Ford specialist and have the guy put a scanner on it and find out what the check engine light is trying to tell you. The check engine light indicates that the computer has detected a malfunction in the engine/emission control system and has diagnostic codes and data stored which would be essential in diagnosing the problem. Myself, at this point I'm suspicious of the ignition coils. I think you could buy a coil pack and slap it on there and it may likely fix the car. If all you are going to do diagnostically is replace parts until you hopefully get lucky, the coils would be next. I still recommend getting it checked by a pro.
