Question: check engine light and SRS light came on

the check engine light and the SRS light came on, does that indicate 2 unrelated issues or is the check engine light on becouse of the SRS light?

    I just had a 1995 S500 in with both lights on,It was seperate problems.But maybe a pattern for this model and year.
