my explorer has been to the dealer numerous times to be "fixed" but by the time we get home the check engine light is on again. It is always the same code P306. So the coil pack has been replaced spark wires replaced ALL spark plugs replaced. The place where the #6 spark plug goes was stripped so it was replaced, they replaced the fuel injector and a gasket. And yet the same code popped up 10 minutes after leaving. The truck runs rough at idle but then is smooth when driving. There is also a clicking noise when the engine is at idle. If I put the truck in neutral the rough idle stops but not the clicking. I want to know what it could be so maybe I could suggest that to the dealer and see if I can get this problem fixed it is becoming a huge problem having to take the truck there weekly

  The clicking noise makes me think of a valve problem, not ignition or injection. Ffind an indepencent Ford specialist for anoother opinion, if the dealer is not satisfying you.

  It sounds like a valve could be the problem. A compression test will be required to diagnose it
