2007 Buick Lucerne Question: Check engine light

When this light comes on after ti has been found to not be a problem and the gas cap is ok what is the next step. Will I have to pay continually to have it switched off or can I just ignore it. -

The check engine light should not be just reset and you can not just ignore the light.The computer memory has stored fault codes current and history.You should at least have a qualified tech.scan your computer and download the fault codes and this will lead you to the correct system and the repair that is needed. -
