This is the third time this came on. The first time I took it to the dealer as the car was still under warranty, they said it was a fuel leak but then never found anything wrong. So they reset it. The second time, it came on again, the car was off warranty and my auto mechanic found nothing wrong and re-set it. Now it has come on again. What's up with this and why does my cruise control dis-engage when this happens.

I am having a similar issue with my 2006 Grand Vitara.
We were having trouble with the engine starting, it would turn over but would not engage. Took to AAA, they ran diagnostic, it said the only thing at fault was the battery.
We replaced the battery, the problem persisted. We had to engage the throttle to get the car to turn over.
Check engine light came on and the cruise control failed to engage. Took it to a shop in Florida, where they replaced the spark plugs and checked the fuel injector map(that was not the issue). The engine was getting too much air so we had to replace the throttle regulator. Drove from Florida to Montreal without any issue.
Car sat for two days, started driving again and the check engine light came on, again.
It is now turning on and off at random intervals.
Up until last month we had not had any problems with the car.
