2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Q&A
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Question: check engine light
hi, may be you can 1.disconnect the inertia switch harness connector. 2. Turn key to ON position (Engine OFF) 3.Measure voltage of circuit between inertia switch harness connector and ground. 4. If battery voltage is found, replaced Inertia Switch. 5. Clear codes. When is the code detected? The code will be set if an incorrect voltage on the control circuit of the fuel pump relay is detected by the PCM. I hope this can help you. - chinasinoy
To reset the check engine light after repairs. you can use a scan tool to reset the light. If a scan tool is not available you can disconnect the battery to "reboot" the computer. After the code has been cleared, the vehicle will have to be driven to reset the emissions monitors. the drive is typically a 20 mile drive from a cold start. If the monitors have mot passed, the vehicle will not pass emisions, so the problem will need to be repaired well enough for your computer to be happy with the results. - dale45
