What does it mean when my check engine light blinks off and on. Also the car seems to be slow picking up power.

  A severe misfire from the engine of your 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora can cause the check engine light to flash and loose power. The flashing check engine light means that the engine is running poorly enough that continued driving may damage the catalytic converter.
