if the light is on then you did not fix the code. what is the codes?? 20,000 is a very long time. hope you have not complicated and compounded the problems. start with the codes then we will go from there. Roy

I have a 2000 Maxima GLE and had a similar problem and have fixed it by replacing all the ignition coils, though you can replace just one if you know which one. It's a pretty frequent and thoroughly discussed problem on the maxima forums. If you're getting OBD error code P1320 then this will probably fix it. But check around to be sure. Replacing the coils can easily be done yourself, although a full set is about $300 http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1i/bl039i.htm http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?searchid=1346588
