Check Engine Light on 1993 Dodge Dakota

My check engine light has been coming on more and more and I don't know why. I took it to Autozone but they said they can't check what's wrong on anything earlier than a '96. Is there anyway for me to find out what's wrong without having to go to a garage and it costing me an arm and a leg?

It should not cost more than 1/2 of labor to pull the code and tell you what it could be/what the code means, which amounts to about $50. that is what I charge.

You can pull the codes yourself without a scanner on this truck.Put the key in and turn it on and off three times fast. After the third time, leave it on and watch the check engine light. It will flash intermittently.Write down each two digit code, then you can Google what they mean or get back to me,I have them written down somewhere.
