Check Engine Light on 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK500

My check engine light is on & a small bit of oil/fluid on a hose running on the drivers side that has a mesh cover on it. The fluid is where the hose connects to a small box close to the fan and also oil in a tray type thing where the hose connects close to the side of the engine. The valve covers and manifold have no signs of oil. There is a slight smell of something burning sometimes while driving the car. Feel free to ask any questions to pinpoint the problem, as my description may be vague.

The check engine light may or may not be related to the oil leak. Oil leaks are by no means uncommon on Benzes of this vintage.
