You need to get a code from the car to see why the check engine light is on maybe is one of your sensors to know which one you need a diagnostic machine.

If the Check Engine light/Service Engine Soon light illuminates while you are driving, the car's on board computer sees a fault in the engines management system that is causing an excess amount of pollutants to be emitted from your car. This could result in engine damage if left neglected. Some problems that can cause the Check Engine light to stay on may take two "drive cycles' to complete before illuminating the Check Engine Light. The computer sees a problem and looks for an identical set of circumstances to occur to confirm that it has indeed seen a problem before turning on the light. A Check Engine light that continually flashes while you are driving is serious and is a sign that the computer sees a problem that seriously risks damaging the catalytic converter which may result in an expensive repair or even may cause a fire! Diagnostic codes are stored in the vehicle's computer and can be retrieved using a scantool that communicates with the computer in your car. Hi: I've only had my 2008 Toyota Corolla SS for eight months; and have put only $4,500 Miles on it. It has a total of 44,600 miles; and the engine light went on.

I just had an oil change; but, they wanted $105.00 just to check the problem!!!

I said "Forget it" I will look for the repair manual you have suggested; or take it to my nice mechanic where I only have to buy parts; If I Don't have Money...I buy him a "Sno-Cone" and he does the labor for me... !!!

    He Loves me... :0)

I hope it's ok to check with you on and off. My email is: home023@sbcglobal.net
if you want to check with me. I'm in Houston,TX

    Alice :0)
