I have had this problem for 3 years. They told me it was my o2 sensors, I replaced them, light still on, I replaced my cat converter, light still on, I replaced my smog pump, light still on, I replaced my diverter valve, light still on, I replaced my muffler, light still on. Then they finally say its my computer $1600 only to be replaced at the dealership!
There is a fault registered in the ECM. Your car needs to get a computer diagnostic to see what caused the problem, than it has to be repaired accordingly. After the repair the ECM has to be reset.
