Removing the O2 sensor requires a special socket available at any auto parts store (about $15 to $20). For information and replacement procedures Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info. There is also a company that independent auto repair shops buy their information from that the same information inexpensively to do it yourselfers. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online
If the sensor is exceptionally tight don't strip off the hex head a repair shop will have to apply heat to loosen up the sensor threads. A scan tool will be needed to turn off the light or after you have driven the car far enough (maybe a few minutes if it is the heater circuit that failed or a week or more if it is a performance of the sensor issue but it will reset itself once the computer has determined it is operating correctly.
