Change spark plugs on 2003 Volkswagen Beetle

Can anyone tell me how I can change the plugs on my 2003 Beetle 1.8L engine, this plastic manifold is in the way of the plugs, I've read advice and factory service manual and they don't make any sense, I wish I could remove the manifold without sawing it off??????????????????????
