2012 Toyota Yaris Recalls

Passenger Air Bag Inflator Ruptures During Deployment Spraying Metal Fragments

The passenger frontal air bag inflator may rupture on deployment, causing metal fragments to come through the air bag and injure occupants. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator or air bag assembly free of charge to resolve the concern.

Headliner Not Compliant With Safety Standards

The headliner inside the vehicle does not comply with federal safety requirements, and may not protect the occupants of the vehicle from injury in a crash. The dealership will replace the headliner free of charge to correct the problem.

Potential Steering System Fault

Many late model vehicles use electronic controls for the power steering assist. These Yaris vehicles are being recalled because an electrical relay in the power steering control module could short circuit due to moisture contamination, resulting loss of power steering assist. Without power steering assist, the vehicle will become hard to steer, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the power steering control module to correct this concern.
