2002 Toyota Celica Problems

The automatic transmission may not shift correctly. This can be caused by the throttle position sensor being out of adjustment or a shift solenoid needing to be replaced. Typically the transmission does not need to be completely overhauled.

Toyota has issued a recall because of a possible defect in the check valve that helps prevent spillage at the gasoline pump. A malfunction of this valve could result in a fuel fire in the presence of an ignition source. The dealer will inspect and repair the check valve if necessary.This car has occasional problems with the system that controls polluting emissions from evaporated gasoline.
