2008 Suzuki SX4 Repair and Maintenance

A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 2008 Suzuki SX4

The manual transmission may "pop" out of 5th gear, this is most commonly caused by a faulty 5th gear synchronizer. Our technicians tell us a revised 5th gear synchronizer is available to correct this concern.

A condition may develop where the accelerator pedal sticks and is not smooth. This can be caused by carbon build up on the throttle shaft or throttle body cleaner was used which removed the special coating on the throttle shaft. Our technicians tell us that if this is the case the throttle body should be replaced.

I know it is under the dashboard but can't see it

after driving in heavy wet snow my AWD and heater blower stopped working. Fuses look fine. What else should I look at?

The passenger seat contains a sensor which helps determine if the passenger front airbag should deploy or not in the event of a crash. It is called the occupant classification system (OCS), and is a mat that is part of the passenger seat cushion. These vehicles are being recalled because the OCS may fail due to the repeated flexing of the mat from general use of the seat. As a result, in the event of a crash the passenger airbag may deploy when it should not, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat cushion (which includes the OCS sensor mat) to correct this concern.

Suzuki is recalling 2007 SX4 hatchbacks and 2008–2010 SX4 hatchback and sedan models due to problems with the outside rear view mirrors. The three screws that secure the mirrors to their base may become loose due to vibration. This may cause the mirror to fall off, reducing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the base screws on both outside rear view mirrors free of charge.

Suzuki is recalling 2008–2010 SX4; 2010 Grand Vitara; and 2009–2010 Equator models equipped with Garmin Nuvi 750, 760, and 765 navigation systems because the battery may overheat, which could lead to a fire. Suzuki will notify owners and Garmin technicians will replace the unit's battery and insert a spacer to prevent the problem from reoccurring. This will be performed free of charge.
