Extended warrenty (2 answers)

It seems like the Subaru cars don't really need the big repairs until after 100K which is the maximum service contract I could get. Is it worth getting that contract? They want $1,800 for mine.

2009 Subaru Legacy Recalls

Air Injection Pump Overheats

The air injection pump may continually operate due to a faulty relay. This can cause it to overheat and possibly melt. Dealers will replace the secondary air injection pump relay free of charge to resolve the concern.

Brake Fluid Leaks From Corroded Lines

Brake lines may corrode excessively when salt water splashes behind a gap in the fuel tank protector. This can lead to brake line failure and leakage, and cause the brakes to fail. Dealers will inspect for leaking lines, apply rust proofing wax and replace lines found to be leaking free of charge to resolve the concern.

Braking Issues Due to Brake Fluid Leak

In areas where salt is used on the roads, slush containing road salt can splash through a gap in the fuel tank protector resulting in corrosion of the brake lines. This corrosion may lead to brake fluid leakage resulting in reduced braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and leaking brake lines will be replaced. Anti-corrosion rustproofing wax will be applied to all recalled vehicles.
