1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Problems

Check Engine Light Due to Gas Cap Issue

Illumination of the Check Engine Light can be caused by a loose or worn gas cap.

Replace spark plugs every 100,000 miles

The spark plugs should be replaced every 100,000 miles. Our technicians recommend replacing the spark plug wires also at this time.

Inspect transmission/fluid every 30,000 miles

You may be able to prevent transmission problems by servicing the transmission and inspecting the fluid every 30,000 miles. If the fluid is dark or burned then the transmission system should be completely flushed.

GM Recalls 1997-1998 Vehicles Due to Wiper Failure in Snow

GM recalls 1997-1998 Chevrolet Malibu and Oldsmobile Cutlass vehicles in cold weather states because the wiper system may fail due to ice and snow buildup. If the wipers fail, visibility in inclement weather will be poor, which may result in a crash. Dealers will replace the passenger side windshield wiper pivot housing.
